Acne & Oily Skin + More

from RM 280 Enquire
Acne (medical term acne vulgaris) is the term for pimples and complexion problems that occur in many young people and some adults. Approximately 80% of people between the ages of 11 to 30 suffer from acne. It affects not only the face, may extend to the neck, chest, back and upper arms.
Acne is not life threatening but can be disfiguring, causing psychological distress to the patients. Acne usually begins at puberty and may continue for many years. Teenagers get acne as the body matures and produces hormones that stimulate the sebaceous (oil producing) skin glands to make more sebum or oil. Sebum lubricates the skin. Sebaceous glands within the hair follicles or pores become plugged when oil secretion occurs faster than the oil and skin cells can exit the pores. Sometimes the plug causes the wall of the pore to rupture causing redness, swelling, and pus. Plugged oil glands may form blackheads and whiteheads. Blackheads are not caused by dirt; rather there is a type of bacteria (p. acne) that normally lives on the skin and thrives on the sebum produced by oil glands. Sometimes the bacteria multiply and cause inflammation and acne.
How do we treat acne?
  • Topical creams such as benzoyl peroxide, retinoid (e.g. Retin-A), antibiotics (e.g. clindamycin).
  • Oral medications such as antibiotics (e.g. doxycycline), isotretinoin (e.g. Roaccutane) and hormonal therapy (e.g. Diane-35 for ladies). Both topical and oral medications are effective to many of our patients but might come with side effects that are intolerable to them.
  • Intralesional steroid injections – Those annoying zits pop out few days before an important upcoming event? Injection of steroid with or without antibiotics will reduce the inflammation instantly and speed up the healing process in 1-2 days time.
  • Professional chemical peels – Physician office-use skin peels like salicylic acid and glycolic acid can gently exfoliate the outer layers of the skin and reduce the oiliness, followed by lesser acne breakout and lightened post acne marks.
  • SilkPeelTM DermalinfusionTM – Microdermabrasion works by stimulating the skin healing process. A fine abrasion, coupled with suction, gently removes loose, dead and diseased cells and also clean out blocked pores. At the same time, dermalinfusion of special formulated Clarifying Solution delivers salicylic acid safely and effectively to improve the appearance of cystic and pustular acne.
  • Lasers – minus the need of taking medications and their potential side effects, treating acne with lasers is safe with fast results. Clear & Matte laser’s precisely controlled Nd:YAG light energy safely penetrates into the skin to target overactive sebaceous glands and to reduce the risk of developing new acne inflammation. In addition, this laser treatment also accelerates the healing process and stimulate collagen remodeling, an important step in the long-term treatment of acne.
Helpful tips:
  • Choose the right skincare products for your skin type. Cosmeceutical products like Aknicarecontains triethyl citrate and ethyl linoleate, which are able to control sebum secretion, reduce bacterial colonization, prevent inflammation and the formation of excessive skin debris, eliminate acne by targeting all 4 acne-causing factors. Find out more about Aknicare products in our clinic.
  • Wash your face twice daily with a gentle skin cleanser to prevent oil build up.
  • Do not scrub your face with a harsh washcloth or sponge. Scrubbing may actually make it worse by irritating the skin.
  • Topical astringents can be used to remove excess oil after cleansing.
  • Don’t squeeze, scratch or pick the lesions. This can leave tiny, permanent scars or pigmentation on your face.

LED Photomodulation Therapy + More

from RM 150 Enquire

LED Photomodulation Therapy is a painless skin care procedure using mainly red or blue light. There are no side effects and no downtime. Red light rejuvenates skin by stimulating fibroblasts to produce collagen and decreasing the enzymes that breakdown collagen. By building collagen, wrinkles are reduced and skin retains a more youthful, radiant appearance. It improves sun damaged skin, blotchy complexions and fine lines. Blue light safely destroys bacteria on the skin and in the pores to reduce acne. It is suitable for all skin types.

Other light-based skin therapies, including intense pulsed light and laser treatments, rely on heat and thermal injury to create changes in skin appearance. LED Photomodulation does not use heat and there is no trauma to the tissues which means there is no downtime.

LED Photomodulation is FDA-approved for wrinkle reduction. It offers a totally natural, non-ablative method for skin rejuvenation. In a process similar to photosynthesis in plants, the LED light interacts with cells and stimulates them to produce more collagen and elastin. This light is emitted in a unique, pulsing sequence that is administered in just minutes.

What does the treatment involve?

You simply need to lie on the bed while the light is applied for 20 minutes. You can listen to music or simply relax. Photorejuvenation treatments are recommended to be performed weekly for 4 to 6 weeks. Acne treatment involves 2 sessions per week for 6 to 8 weeks.

Can it be used with other treatments?

LED Photomodulation can be done on its own or in combination with other treatments. Both red and blue light can be combined with any other treatments, including a facial, chemical peel, SilkPeel DermalInfusion, laser and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP).

How will I look after the LED treatment?

Mild pinkness may last for a few minutes after the treatment but there is no downtime.

What is the recommended maintenance regimen?

A series of treatments is required to get your skin in shape and looking great. The number of visits may vary depending on the problem being treated. Since the skin will continue to age, maintenance treatments are necessary to prolong and enhance healthier skin.

After a series of treatments, a maintenance treatment every month or so will enhance and prolong the effects. LED treatment works best in conjunction with a good skincare regimen, including sun protection.

Acne Treatment + More

from RM 37 Enquire

The skin peel PREMIER CLINIC use is called tri-chloroacetic acid (TCA) and is one of the original skin rejuvenation peels. They are recommended for men and women of all ages wanting to improve moderate to severe sun damage and or signs of ageing.
Superficial TCA Peels are designed as mild to moderate peels. Their strength and therefore peeling effects can be increased, by layering the applications. The peel depth is dependent on the patient’s skin type, skin condition and desired outcome, though you will see a noticeable improvement after each peel.

  • Roaccutane used in the last 6 months
  • Dermatitis or infection in the area to be treated
  • Pregnancy
  • Abnormal wound healing

We recommend a course of 2 to 4 peels, which is dependent on skin type, skin condition, peel strength and the desired outcome.

TCA peels have a burning sensation when initially applied, which subsides in a couple of minutes as it neutralises. During this time the patient holds a device over their face, which blows out cool air, significantly helping to reduce the sting. Cold compresses are applied after completion to help cool the skin.

Prior to have a TCA peel, we recommend that the skin is primed with active ingredients for at least two weeks prior. This is to maximise peel outcomes, assist in speeding the healing time and reduces the risk of post peel complications. A specific skin care regime will be recommended to you at your initial consultation.

Avoid the use of moisturisers or lotions containing active ingredients such as retinol, glycol
