Malacca (Melaka), Malaysia is a "The Historic State", this historical city centre has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 7 July 2008. Malacca has an estimated population of 860,000, which consist of Malays, Chinese, Peranakan Chinese and Baba-Nyonya, Indians (Chitty) and the minority Kristang and Dutch Eurasians.
Taxi from Malacca Airport into town is around RM20-RM30 for half an hour drive.
There are daily ferries run to and from Bengkalis and Dumai to Malacca. All ferries arrive and depart from the harbour Master’s jetty, Jeti Shahbandar at Taman Melaka Raya near the Maritime Muzeum, Malacca. To get to and from the jetty, Melaka Town Bus No. 17 (green) stops nearby Jeti Shahbandar and runs into the city centre. Taxis are usually available from the jetty.
The Tunas Rupat Follow Me Express departs daily to Dumai at 10:00 a.m. (2 hours; 110 ringgit one-way/170 ringgit return). Tickets should be purchased in advance.
Laksamana Group has ferries departing from Bengkalis to Malacca on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9.30 a.m. From Malacca, ferries depart to Bengkalis on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 11.00 a.m.
