Moles / Skin Tags / Warts + More

from RM 150 Enquire

Are your moles causing you embarrassment? Creating problems when you are applying make-up or shaving? If the answer is yes, then you should consider to get them removed.

Moles can have different appearances. They can be flat or raised; they may look like dark brown spots and also can be yellow or blue. Moles can be confused with other pigmented lesions such as seborrhoeic keratosis. They can appear anywhere on the skin especially on the face, arms and neck. Generally brown moles which are evenly pigmented with a regular outline, no sudden change of colour, size and shape, do not need to cause any concerns. A skin biopsy should be taken for any suspected cancerous lesions.

The removal of moles over the last few decades has always been associated with leaving an unsightly scar due to the use for scalpels and the biggest question a patient faced once given the all clear was is the mole worth removing if it’s going to be replaced by a scar?

Skin tags are outgrowths which look like small pieces of soft, hanging skin. They commonly appear on places where the skin forms creases, such as neck, groin and underarms.

Seborrheic keratoses, also known as seborrheic warts, are commonly seen on elderly or premature photo-aging skin. They are slightly raised, oval shaped brownish scab-like lesions normally found on sun-exposed areas.

Developed in the mid to late 1990’s, the Erbium YAG laser technology was the ultimate development of the ablative resurfacing laser systems, and has remained a gold standard for the removal of wrinkles, moles, cysts, warts, skin tags, lumps and bumps, and for facial skin rejuvenation ever since.

The procedure is very quick and is done under a small amount of local anaesthetia. Multiple skin lesions can be treated at the same appointment. This has been a quantum leap forwards from the traditional method of surgical excision with its stitches, the uncomfortable removal of these several days later, and the subsequent scar formation from cutting.

The Erbium Yag laser ablates the skin lesion leaving the skin with slight redness, this will heal over the next two – four weeks. If you choose you can even go straight back to work. More than one session of treatment may be required for larger and deeper lesions.

After the procedure, you will be given instructions on post procedural care. Antibiotics ointment should be applied 2-3 times a day until the wound dries up. Avoid scratching and peeling of the wound and apply sunblock on the treated area to prevent the formation of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
